The village of Manarola was founded around to the XII century from populations coming from from Volastra
( " vicus oleater" - country of the olive trees). More probable for Volastra it appears but,
the origin of the etimo from Liguria which " Viassa" (Biassa); Vappa (Viapra); Strà ecc.
